Introduction--Journal/Blog Entry #1

My name is Ye Lin. I'm from China.  I have been in America for seven years, and I have been living in New York ever since.  As soon as I came to here, I caught up with computer.  The fascination toward computer-technology drove me to pick my major in computer science, and of course this course.  The internet has made communication easier and world has become closer.  However, our life style has change and we tend to spend more times on phones and computers.  I'm wishing to understand what are the impacts that internet communication has made of our life, now and future.

Ever since I started using computer, I could not use it without internet communication.  First, I used instant message software called QQ which is one of the oldest internet communication softwares in China.  Then, I have started using all kind of computer-media communication, like BBS, Facebook, Weibo (Chiese Twitter), E-mail, MSN, etc. I use QQ and some of  instant message softwares to talk with friends. BBS and Weibo are blog-like website where i could post things on them. And I use E-mail to communicate with people formally.  However, they all serve a same purpose which is to communicate with my friends and those people who I don't know in the real world but we have topics that we all interested in.

My most used computer-media communication must be QQ.  Not only because it has all the people that I have known for years, and it has many great features like group chat, interesting emotes, voice chat, facetime, games with friend.  Also, It's a instant message software which means that I can receive message instantly after the person you are talking with sending a message.  It feels likes you are talking to the person face-to-face because you will receive feedback instantly.

I'm looking forward to learn more about computer-media communication.
